Exciting two-year-old filly Hi Barbie, sired by I Am Invincible, made a remarkable debut at Doomben on a heavy 10 track. Despite the challenging conditions, Hi Barbie, trained by Tony Gollan for the Acton family, showcased her potential by winning the $200,000 Listed BRC Phelan Ready Stakes (1110m). With a recent trial victory under her belt, Hi Barbie was the favorite in the race, outperforming more experienced competitors like Cuddles for Kimmy and Secret Sort to secure a one-length win.

Tony Gollan expressed his initial concerns about running a rookie filly on such a heavy track, given the significance of the race for both the Acton and Gollan families. However, Hi Barbie’s class and talent shone through, reassuring Gollan of her capabilities. The $1.2 million Magic Millions purchase from Yarraman Park has a bright future ahead, with a full brother set to debut at Magic Millions 2025.

Bred by the late Alan Acton, Hi Barbie is the first foal of Outback Barbie, a multiple stakes-winner and $1.5 million earner. Despite the loss of a Snitzel filly foal earlier in the year, Outback Barbie is back in foal to I Am Invincible, adding to the family’s anticipation for future successes. Hi Barbie’s victory marks the 112th stakes win for I Am Invincible and the first for Spirit of Boom as a broodmare sire.

In addition to Hi Barbie’s triumph, other notable contenders in the race included Cuddles for Kimmy, trained by Corey & Kylie Geran, and Secret Sort, trained by Donna Stanbridge. The competitive field highlighted the talent and potential of these young horses, setting the stage for exciting future races and achievements in the racing world.

As Hi Barbie continues her journey towards the Magic Millions 2YO Classic in January, her impressive debut performance has solidified her status as a rising star in the racing industry. With a strong pedigree, exceptional training, and a promising future ahead, Hi Barbie’s victory serves as a testament to the dedication and talent of all those involved in her success.
