Christine A. Amalfe, the head honcho of the Employment & Labor Law Group at Gibbons P.C., is about to become the big cheese as the president of the New Jersey State Bar Association (NJSBA). The official swearing-in ceremony will take place during the annual meeting and convention happening in Atlantic City on May 14, 2025. As the new president, Amalfe will be at the forefront of pushing forward the NJSBA’s goals of advocating for the legal profession, ensuring access to justice, and backing the independence and integrity of the judicial branch.

Amalfe has been deeply involved with the association for the past 30 years, wearing many hats along the way. From being an executive committee member of the Labor & Employment Law Section to serving as a trustee for the Women in the Profession Section, she has done it all. Not to mention her roles in various committees such as Higher Education, Judicial and Prosecutorial Appointments, Judicial Administration, Legislative, Amicus, and Pro Bono. Her journey to the top spot as president-elect has been a long and fruitful one, culminating in her upcoming presidency.

“I’m truly honored to step into the shoes of the NJSBA president,” said Amalfe. “I’m excited about the year ahead and continuing the legacy of this esteemed organization while serving its esteemed members.” Peter J. Torcicollo, the big boss at Gibbons, also chimed in, congratulating Amalfe on her well-deserved promotion. With her stellar leadership skills and dedication to the law, there’s no doubt she’ll make a huge impact at the NJSBA.

Amalfe’s expertise lies in representing corporations in employment law and litigation at Gibbons. Leading a team of over 20 lawyers, she also handles the legal, administrative, and business development aspects of one of the firm’s busiest business units. Her accolades speak for themselves, with recognitions from Chambers USA, The Best Lawyers in America®, and Thomson Reuters New Jersey Super Lawyers. She’s even part of prestigious organizations like the College of Labor & Employment Lawyers and American College of Trial Lawyers. And let’s not forget her membership in the exclusive Litigation Counsel of America, a group that makes up less than 0.5% of American lawyers.

Apart from her legal prowess, Amalfe is a staunch advocate for women in the legal field. She co-founded the Gibbons Women’s Initiative, served as president of the National Association of Women Lawyers Foundation, and is an active member of the New Jersey Women Lawyers Association. Her commitment to empowering women in law is truly inspiring.

So, there you have it! Christine A. Amalfe is all set to take the reins as the president of the NJSBA, and we can’t wait to see the great things she’ll accomplish in her new role. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development!
