Two 18-year-old youths have died in the early hours of this Tuesday after a road exit caused by a wild boar that has crossed a road near the municipality of Chantada (Lugo), as reported by 112.

Tourism has overturned when it was circulating on the N-540 highway, which connects Lugo and Ourense, at kilometer 53, with three people inside, members of the SD Chantada youth team.

Of the three occupants, the driver of the vehicle was unharmed, but the two companions died instantly after the impact.

The youths were wearing seat belts. In addition, the driver has given a negative breathalyzer test. This is confirmed to Europa Press by sources from the Provincial Headquarters of the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT).

The 112 Galicia has received the notice around 00:15 this Tuesday, when several individuals have called to request help for the occupants of a car, who were trapped as a result of a road exit.

According to the account of one of the people who gave the notice, the accident was caused by a wild boar that crossed the road.

The emergency services have explained that the car has left the road on the right hand side and has immediately collided with the protection barrier, which has been embedded in the vehicle due to the strong impact.

Once at the scene of the accident, the members of the Chantadian City Council Fire Fighting Prevention and Rescue Service have released two of the occupants of the tourism, although the toilets have not been able to do anything for their lives.

The driver of the vehicle has suffered an anxiety attack after the event and has needed psychological help.

The mayor of Chantada, Manuel Lorenzo Varela, has advanced that the full council will decree two days of official mourning for the death of two young people.

“I am in contact with my colleagues and with the deputy mayor, and probably this afternoon I will go to Chantada to have a plenary session and issue a statement in which we will probably decree two days of official mourning for this absolutely sad and painful event,” he said. advanced Varela.

The three were members of the SD Chantada youth team, an entity that issued a statement this morning regretting what happened and announcing the temporary suspension of any type of activity.

The Chantadian councilor has indicated that the boys had come from playing “a tournament” in the neighboring municipality of Taboada at the time of the accident.
