Envision Energy, in collaboration with the Spanish government and industry leaders, is embarking on a groundbreaking project that will revolutionize Spain’s renewable energy sector. The partnership aims to establish Europe’s first integrated green hydrogen net-zero industrial park, solidifying Spain’s position as a leader in the continent’s green energy transition.
With an initial investment of $1 billion, this ambitious project is set to fast-track Spain’s green hydrogen adoption plans. By building a cutting-edge facility capable of producing high-capacity electrolyzers, Envision and its partners are targeting the delivery of five gigawatts of electrolysis capacity. This significant contribution aligns perfectly with Spain’s Hydrogen Roadmap, which aims to achieve eleven gigawatts of production by 2030.
Beyond manufacturing, the industrial park will house design, research, and service functions for the entire green hydrogen value chain. From electrolysis and air separation to ammonia synthesis, the facility will serve as a comprehensive hub for scalable green ammonia production. This holistic approach is expected to drive innovation in renewable energy solutions for hard-to-abate industries, furthering Spain’s progress towards reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 23% by 2030.
Central to this initiative is Envision’s dedication to fostering local expertise and advancing technological innovations. The establishment of a Green Hydrogen Centre of Excellence will be a key component, acting as a focal point for skill development, innovation, and industrial collaboration throughout Spain.
The centre’s goal is to accelerate breakthroughs in the green hydrogen ecosystem by integrating renewable energy production, energy storage, and net-zero digital technology. This comprehensive approach is aimed at ensuring a consistent supply of clean energy, reducing hydrogen production costs, and showcasing the commercial viability of green hydrogen as the primary driver for the global energy transition.
Construction of the facility is scheduled to commence in the first half of 2026, with Envision collaborating closely with the Spanish government to identify the optimal location for this greenfield development. Once completed, the industrial park is anticipated to generate 1,000 new green jobs, significantly contributing to local economic growth while advancing Spain’s sustainable energy objectives.
In a related development, the Dutch government has recently unveiled plans for a $1 billion+ initiative to enhance electrolysis capacity and increase renewable hydrogen production in the Netherlands.
