IHG Hotels & Resorts, a major player in the global hospitality industry, has reached a significant milestone in its Northern Europe market with over 200 open properties. This expansion includes the introduction of new IHG brands in Germany, Sweden, Hungary, and Poland.

In Germany, IHG is set to launch its luxury boutique brand, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, as well as the midscale conversion brand, Garner, later this year. Additionally, the extended-stay brand, Candlewood Suites, is scheduled to open in early 2025. Hungary has also welcomed its first hotels under the Kimpton and Vignette Collection brands, while Sweden has recently seen the opening of the premium voco hotels brand and a signed deal in Poland.

The growth in IHG’s presence extends to various cities in Northern Europe, including Krakow, Munich, and Lublin. The collaboration with NOVUM Hospitality has resulted in the opening of 30 new properties under the Holiday Inn – the niu brand.

Mario Maxeiner, Managing Director Northern Europe at IHG Hotels & Resorts, expressed optimism about the growth in the region, highlighting the investment in local capabilities and expertise to drive quality and growth across different portfolios.

In Germany, several developments are in progress, including the opening of Holiday Inn Express Munich Airport-Erding and Kimpton Frankfurt Main, both set to redefine the hospitality landscape in the country. The partnership with NOVUM Hospitality has also led to the development of Garner and Candlewood Suites properties, further enhancing IHG’s presence in the market.

Poland is also seeing new additions with Holiday Inn Express Lublin, voco Katowice, and Hotel Indigo Krakow – Wawel Castle, offering unique experiences for travelers in the region. Hungary’s hospitality sector is thriving with the opening of Kimpton BEM Budapest and Verno House Budapest under the Vignette Collection.

Sweden welcomed voco Stockholm – Kista, catering to business and leisure travelers in the heart of Stockholm’s Silicon Valley. Belgium has also joined the expansion with the opening of Holiday Inn Express Brussels – Airport, providing convenient accommodation near Brussels Airport and NATO Headquarters.

With nearly 200 open hotels and 169 properties under development, IHG continues to offer a diverse range of brands to guests across Northern Europe. From luxury offerings to midscale conversions, the expansion reflects IHG’s commitment to providing quality hospitality experiences in the region.
