Another day, another crazy weather incident in Newcastle, Oklahoma. So, get this, a lightning strike actually hit a police cruiser in the parking lot of the Newcastle Police Department on May 19. Like, what are the odds, right? The surveillance video caught the whole thing – lightning hitting the top of the cruiser, flames, and smoke billowing out of the vehicle. Talk about a shocking sight!

Thankfully, no one was hurt in this electrifying incident. But let’s be real, that could’ve been anyone’s car. The Newcastle Emergency Management took to Facebook to remind everyone to take lightning seriously. Especially with the high winds, hail, and tornado watches in the area that day. I mean, thunder means you’re close enough to get hit, so best to stay indoors, away from trees and metal, and unplug those electronics until the storm passes. Safety first, people!

Newcastle is just a short 20-mile drive south from Oklahoma City, so you never know what kind of wild weather you might encounter in this neck of the woods. Stay safe out there, folks! And remember, when thunder roars, go indoors.
