The search for a baby in Leipzig apparently has a happy ending: the police tracked down the woman who is said to have stolen a baby and pram in a Leipzig shopping center on Thursday. The custodians said they briefly placed the baby in the woman’s care.

The infant from Leipzig, who has disappeared since Thursday, has been found in Brandenburg. The approximately one-month-old boy was tracked down there by officials together with the alleged perpetrator, who comes from Brandenburg, as a police spokeswoman in Leipzig said. According to the first findings, the child was well and had been handed over to the rescue service.

The baby disappeared on Thursday evening in a Leipzig shopping center along with the pram. The guardians stated that they had given the baby to a woman for a short time to take care of the child, a police spokeswoman said on ntv.de. Later, the woman and baby could no longer be found at the agreed meeting point.

“The child was not taken away,” said the spokeswoman before the circumstances of the disappearance. The woman is also no stranger to the family.
