The Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO) has introduced the Digital Economy Navigator (DEN) to help bridge the global digital economic divide. This tool aims to empower nations to navigate the path to digital economy maturity, identify growth opportunities, measure progress, and reduce the gap in digital economy maturity.

The DEN was unveiled at the SDG Digital 2024 summit during the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. It utilizes a comprehensive framework that evaluates digital economy maturity in 50 countries, including DCO Member States. This framework allows nations, stakeholders, and decision-makers to collaborate in advancing the global digital economy, promoting accessibility, sustainability, and shared prosperity across borders.

Deemah AlYahya, Secretary-General of the DCO, highlighted the importance of the Digital Economy Navigator in promoting economic prosperity, sustainability, and accessibility. By providing reliable data, insights on current trends, and strategic foresight on future challenges, the DEN equips countries to achieve greater levels of prosperity, inclusion, and sustainability in the digital era.

The Navigator evaluates factors contributing to economic prosperity, sustainability, and quality of life, enabling different stakeholder groups to work together in developing digital economy strategies. It offers a comprehensive view of digital maturity across regions, with North America leading in innovation, South Asia excelling in digital work and training, and Sub-Saharan Africa leading in digital education and health services.

Policymakers, business executives, and other experts in the digital economy can benefit from the DEN’s insights and analysis. Decision-makers can leverage this tool to foster digital innovation, create jobs, drive GDP growth, enhance sustainability through digital technologies, and improve overall well-being.

The DEN assesses the digital economy through three dimensions: Digital Enablers, Digital Business, and Digital Society, with 10 pillars summarizing key aspects of countries’ digital economy based on 102 indicators. This unique approach provides a comprehensive understanding of countries’ digital maturity and technology applications, contributing to global convergence in the digital economy.

In conclusion, the Digital Economy Navigator by the Digital Cooperation Organization serves as a valuable tool in advancing the global digital economy, promoting collaboration among nations, and driving inclusive growth and prosperity in the digital era.
