I may have underestimated Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven after the recent match against Hammers. Initially, I thought he fell too easily after an incident with Mohammed Kudus. My memory recalled a moment where van de Ven pushed Kudus in the chest, and Kudus responded with a lighter push to the face. Van de Ven then dramatically fell to the ground, seemingly exaggerating the impact.
However, it appears my interpretation was incorrect. Van de Ven claims he was actually the victim of a violent attack, receiving a punch to the face. Despite the lack of camera evidence, Van de Ven insists the punch occurred, and we must take his word for it.
Recalling the event, Van de Ven stated, “He tried to kick the ball but hit me twice, three times. I was obviously a bit mad in this situation, and I stood up and pushed him, and then the situation escalated from his side. He literally punched me in the face as I went down! To be honest, I don’t know what happened afterward; I didn’t really see what happened.”
It appears that Van de Ven was too disoriented to remember the full sequence of events. Kudus should consider himself fortunate that Van de Ven’s memory lapse did not result in a more exaggerated account of the incident. Additionally, Van de Ven may benefit from a clarification of the term ‘literally’ for future reference.
In light of this new information, it is clear that the altercation between Van de Ven and Kudus was more serious than initially perceived. The incident serves as a reminder of the intensity and physicality present in football matches, highlighting the need for fair play and sportsmanship on the field. Both players should learn from this experience and strive to handle conflicts in a more respectful manner in the future.
