The Investigating Court number 1 of Barcelona has incorporated into the summary of the ‘Negreira case’ numerous documents provided by La Liga and that refer to another judicial proceeding that is being followed in the National Court, within the so-called “Soule” case. Liga, which acts as a private prosecution, believes that there is a connection between the two proceedings as a result of José Contreras, a former Barcelona manager with Josep Lluis Nuñez, Joan Gaspart and Josep Maria Bartomeu who died at the end of last year.
Contreras was being investigated by the National Court and among the documentation that was seized in the registry of his home and his company, writings were found that could shed light on the functions of the former vice president of arbitrators José María Enríquez Negreira and his son Javier Enríquez for Barça. Specifically, a Contreras company, Tresep, received the payments from Barça and then passed them on to Javier Enríquez through the Soccercam company. The Treasury calculates that this company billed 297,085 euros between 2015 and 2018, although later Contreras billed Barça 450,120 euros and kept 153,034 euros of commission.
The reports, about referees who directed the Barça first team and B, were received by Contreras, as Javier Enríquez declared before the Police and the then manager delivered them to the club. The Investigating Court number 1 of Barcelona has some of these reports, but also other documents such as a note with the heading “work to be done” in which various tasks are listed. The most striking is “monitoring of arbitration decisions to the rival team R.M.”, which for the researchers is Real Madrid.
The author of this typed page with some handwritten notes, to which this medium has had access, lists services such as “videos of the Barça players regarding the referee’s decisions, so that he is not against Barça” and the same with Barça Atlético. It is specified that “at home and when visiting as well. See and transfer to the video how the opponent plays inside and outside, highlighting their strengths and weaknesses, as well as the way the opponents of the 1st and 2nd teams play. ( DVDs will be delivered by categories). Weekly”.
In addition, among the tasks are the follow-up “of the cup matches of the 1st and 2nd team, such as those of the European Cup, etc” as well as “players that Barça is interested in, at a National and International level”. Some of these works were recognized by Negreira’s son before the Police and by former leaders of the Barça club, as evidence was provided. However, the note is signed “confidential to: Mr. Contreras.”
The handwritten document also states that these jobs must be done: “Everything anonymously.” “Both the billing and the delivery of the reports would be delivered to Mr. Contreras by hand or to whomever is determined. Character report and forms of action of how the referees are, these before each game of teams 1 and 2, “he says the note that concludes with “a copy of the technical talks of the plays that are recorded will be delivered to the referees of 1 ‘and 2’. You can also travel anonymously in Spain or abroad if required.”
Another element of the document that stands out is a handwritten annotation at the height of the heading in which, without contextualizing, it can be read: “50,000 – 10,000. See the referee’s car or not depending on the airport or hotel car.”
