A boat with about twenty migrants of North African origin has arrived this Sunday at a beach in Melilla from the nearby Moroccan coast, police sources have informed Europa Press.
The motor-driven boat managed to reach the Galapagos cove at full speed after noon, a beach located between the rocks of the citadel of Melilla La Vieja, before the gaze of dozens of bathers who were enjoying a bathroom in it.
The pilot has placed the zodiac next to the rocks and the migrants have been descending, who have fled at a run down the stairs that lead to the La Alcazaba road, a road that connects at the top with the Monte María Cristian neighborhood and by the inferior with the center of the city.
Moments later, two boats from the Groups of Specialists in Underwater Activities (GEAS) of the Civil Guard arrived, taking charge of the boat and beginning the search for the migrants.
This is the second vessel of this type that has reached Melilla in just three days after another boat with an undetermined group of migrants accessed it early in the morning on the 15th and ran away as soon as they arrived at the Melilla beach from Also from Morocco.
The boat, which was stranded on the shore of the Hipódromo beach, overcame both Moroccan and Spanish control and reached national territory, at which time they fled on foot through the Spanish city.
The government spokesman was unable to specify the number of migrants who managed to run away as soon as they touched the shore of the Melilla beach, but other sources suggested that the number could be around twenty. There has been no news of the search for these people since then by the Government Delegation.
The previous irregular entry of migrants to Melilla occurred on May 11 when the Civil Guard arrested the owner of a jet ski as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of human trafficking after introducing a migrant into the Spanish city from the nearby coasts. from Morocco and abandon it in the water so that it could reach the coast of Horcas Coloradas beach by its own means.
The police spokesman explained that once the boss was identified, a male of legal age, of Spanish nationality and residing in Melilla, was arrested and brought to justice as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against the rights of foreign citizens, known in the slang for “human trafficking”.
For his part, the migrant, in compliance with current legislation on foreigners, was transferred to official offices of the National Police, where an expulsion file for irregular entry into national territory was opened.
