Members of the New Jersey Firefighters Mutual Benevolent Association (FMBA) are all fired up for U.S. Rep. Mikie Sherrill’s run for governor, FMBA President Eddie Donnelly shared with InsiderNJ. This labor union, the biggest firefighter association in New Jersey, representing over 6k firefighters, EMTs, and dispatchers, has been teaming up with the Sherrill Campaign to rally support for their candidate across the state.
The primary election is set for Tuesday, June 10th, and Donnelly is feeling optimistic about Sherrill’s chances. He believes that she is the right person to take on former Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli in the general election. Donnelly criticized Ciattarelli for his past anti-labor stances, highlighting his positions on pensions, healthcare, and salary caps for first responders. On the other hand, he praised Sherrill for her support of the FMBA and her advocacy for healthcare and pension funding for first responders.
Donnelly expressed confidence in Sherrill’s ability to stand up to President Donald J. Trump’s agenda, citing her military background as a U.S. Navy officer and helicopter pilot. He believes that Sherrill is the voice that New Jersey needs to push back against harmful policies that affect first responders. With the primary election approaching, Donnelly and the FMBA are fully engaged in the campaign, working hard to ensure that Sherrill emerges victorious.
