For many, Raúl Cimas does not need much of an introduction. Born in Albacete in 1976, he is an actor, comedian, scriptwriter and cartoonist and his name has established itself in the Olympus of Spanish comedy with sketches, monologues and hilarious performances.

Although he was already part of a theater group at his institute, Cimas’s professional genesis is located at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Cuenca. He did not get to graduate, but there he met Joaquín Reyes and Ernesto Sevilla, the latter as a roommate in the university residence. With them and with Pablo Chiapella (the actor who plays Amador in La que se avecina), he formed his first comedy group, El cuarteto de Albacete, where an absurd humor with Castilian-Latin overtones began to take shape that would soon dazzle half of Spain.

The landing of Sevilla and Reyes on the Paramount Comedy television network opened the door to actors like Carlos Areces, Julián López or Raúl Cimas himself. Together they starred in La hora chanante, a humor program that was on the air for five seasons, from 2002 to 2006.

Directed by Joaquín Reyes, the program ended up being a cult work of underground humor. Such was the success that La hora chanante continued on public television, on La 2, with Muchachada Nui. From 2007 to 2010 and with new characters, they took comic surrealism to a new dimension.

But Raúl Cimas has also managed to forge a career beyond that television format. In Neox he has starred in Coconut Museum and Return to Liliflor; At ETB, he has been a scriptwriter and collaborator on La Gran Evasión or presenter of Óxido Nitroso, on Canal, for three seasons.

In the world of cinema, Cimas began with a cameo in Spanish Movie, by Javier Ruiz Caldera, in 2009 and with small roles in two films by Nacho Vigalondo, Extraterrestrial (2012) and Open Windows (2014). More relevant are his most recent film works, Mari (two) and Methuselah (both from 2023).

To all this we must add theatrical performances, comics (he has signed Demasiada pasión por lo suyo, Orgullo Brutal, Prodigios or Mamotreto), scripts (the film version of Camera Café stands out) or bowling throughout Spain. An all-rounder of humor.
