STV’s Sustainable Scotland Week is making a triumphant return next week, promising a week-long immersion into all things green and sustainable. Starting on Monday, September 23, the broadcaster will be airing a series of special clips throughout its schedule, aiming to inspire viewers to adopt more eco-friendly lifestyles through practical and actionable tips.
Building on the success of last year’s Sustainable Scotland Week, which saw a significant increase in viewers making environmentally conscious decisions, STV is gearing up for another impactful campaign. Research has shown that 73% of viewers who engaged with sustainability-themed content during the previous event were more inclined to make greener choices in their daily lives.
In addition to the informative clips, STV’s channel idents will also undergo a green makeover, featuring activities and individuals championing sustainability initiatives. The goal is to spark inspiration among viewers and encourage them to take steps towards a more sustainable future.
Bobby Hain, Managing Director of Broadcast at STV, expressed his enthusiasm for the campaign’s return, citing the positive impact it had on viewers last year. He emphasized the importance of delivering accurate information in an accessible manner to empower viewers to make informed decisions for the planet.
Moreover, Sustainable Scotland Week will extend its reach beyond traditional television programming, with a dedicated ‘Green Hub’ on the streaming service STV Player. This hub will showcase a variety of sustainability-focused content produced by filmmakers from around the world, including the compelling two-parter, Jimmy’s Big Bee Rescue, hosted by TV presenter and farmer Jimmy Doherty.
The overarching goal of Sustainable Scotland Week aligns with STV’s broader sustainability strategy, STV Zero, which aims to foster a more sustainable society. As part of this initiative, STV has committed to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2030, demonstrating its dedication to environmental stewardship.
Not content with just broadcasting sustainability-themed content, STV has also taken practical steps to reduce its environmental impact. Staff at the broadcaster’s Pacific Quay headquarters in Glasgow recently participated in a community clean-up effort, joining forces with other businesses, schools, and community groups to collect over 150 bags of litter from the surrounding area.
Sustainable Scotland Week serves as a flagship event in STV’s ongoing sustainability efforts, highlighting the broadcaster’s commitment to driving positive change and inspiring others to join in creating a greener, more sustainable future.
With the sponsorship of SSE Energy Solutions, STV’s Sustainable Scotland Week is set to captivate and educate viewers across the nation from September 23 to September 30. Join the movement towards a more sustainable future by tuning in and taking action to make a difference.
