ALBANY— A Troy man is accused of murder after a one-year-old died while in his care, prosecutors say. An Albany woman faces misdemeanor charges in the same case.

David Bridges, 22, and Rebecca Patrick, 21, were arraigned Thursday, according to the Albany County District Attorney’s office.

An unsealed indictment alleges that on Feb. 6 at South Allen Street, Bridges recklessly engaged in conduct that “created a grave risk of death that ultimately resulted in the death” of the baby, who was not named. The indictment also alleges that between the Dec. Restbet 14 and Feb. 6, Bridges and Patrick “engaged in an injurious way toward the infant.”

Prosecutors did not provide details about the circumstances or how Bridges, Patrick and the baby are related.

Bridges was arraigned on counts of second-degree murder, first-degree manslaughter and endangering the welfare of a minor. Patrick was arraigned on two misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Both pleaded not guilty before Judge Thomas A. Breslin in state Supreme Court of Albany County.

Bridges was sent back to the county jail; Patrick was released to the supervision of the Probation Department. No new court dates have been scheduled at this time.
