The Podemos candidate for the Presidency of the Principality of Asturias, Covadonga Tomé, maintains her confinement that began on Thursday at the party headquarters in Gijón and insists that, if her complete list is not registered, the party will have to give some explanations impossible to understand by the militancy”.

The leadership in Asturias, headed on an interim basis by Rafael Palacio, says that this list will be respected, but number four Javier Fernández will not be on it, sanctioned, they insist, by the party’s statutes. And from there they don’t move. There will be no calls, no meetings or anything else. That is his position.

Tomé, who has given a press conference this Saturday, still does not clarify if she, without her number four, will appear or not. “What we do will depend on what we decide.” At the moment, he assures that all the members of the list that came out of the primaries will sign the acceptance document for the Electoral Board, which is delivered individually “because that way, if the management wants, they can register our list from now on and end the confinement and with this situation that is only hurting the party”.

And they ask Ana Taboada, who would occupy that square four that would remain empty, to “take a step back and recognize that this position should not be for her.”

Tomé trusts that the general secretary of Podemos, Ione Belarra, “does not leave the Asturias militancy lying around.” He assures that they have tried to contact her in the last few hours without success. The period for submitting candidacies for the regional and municipal elections will end on Monday at 24:00. “I have no intention of breaking the party but of representing it in the General Meeting of the Principality from May”, Tomé stressed.

The head of the list has regretted that, since he won the primaries, his candidacy has been “boycotted” with the opening of up to 14 disciplinary proceedings against leaders and militants of the critical sector.
