The head of the Presidential Office of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, has held a meeting with representatives of the international embassies in the country, including the Spanish one, to discuss two key points of his peace plan for Ukraine, known as the “Formula of peace” on the guarantees of territorial and energy security for the future.
The meeting was attended by almost 60 diplomatic representatives, including for the first time from countries such as Ethiopia, Croatia and Portugal, who have also joined the intervention of institutional representatives such as the United Nations Resident Coordinator for Ukraine Denise Brown or the Apostolic Nuncio in Ukraine Joseph Maramreddy.
Yermak, reports the Ukrainian Presidency this Saturday, took the opportunity to inform foreign diplomats about the results of the second meeting at the level of national security advisers and political directors of foreign policy departments of countries and international organizations, which took place on 5 August in the Saudi city of Jeddah.
This meeting, it should be remembered, was characterized by the presence of representatives of countries closest to Russia, such as China or India, who agreed on the need to find a negotiated solution that respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country.
Likewise, the countries participating in Jeddah agreed to create specific working groups on the most outstanding aspects of the ten-point proposal presented at the time by the Ukrainian president, Volodimir Zelenski, to cease hostilities with Russia, excluded however from the summit.
In the telematic meeting this Saturday, Yermak had a special impact on the issue of the country’s future security, both in the field of energy and in the face of a possible new Russian aggression.
In this last sense, the presidential adviser reiterated his invitation to the participants to subscribe to the so-called G7 Joint Declaration, announced in July, considered to date the most important document for the future of security in Ukraine.
In this sense, Yermak has suggested that the countries that decide to adhere to this declaration could do so by signing bilateral agreements, hence the importance of the group meeting this Saturday with individual diplomatic representatives of each country.
