Bayreuth (dpa / lby) – A truck caught fire on Autobahn 9 near Bayreuth. According to the police, the accident on Monday morning caused such heavy smoke that even traffic in the opposite direction was obstructed. The 60-year-old driver therefore uncoupled his tractor from the burning semi-trailer and left it on the hard shoulder. The extinguishing work took about one and a half hours, the rescue work four hours. The investigators assume a technical defect in the vehicle as the cause. According to police, no one was injured.
