Despite a three-run lead slipping away in the sixth inning, Brick Memorial managed to pull ahead again with two runs in the seventh. Brayden Nalducci, the pitcher for Brick Memorial, struck out the first two batters in the seventh but then faced a tense situation as the next three batters reached base. A balk allowed Red Bank Catholic to come within one run, putting the winning run just 180 feet away. However, Nalducci held his ground and secured an 8-7 victory for Brick Memorial with a crucial flyout to center field.
This victory marked a historic moment for Brick Memorial, as it was their first-ever Shore Conference title. Additionally, they became the first public school team to claim the title since 2018. Dan Golembiewski was a standout player in the game, going 2-for-3 with three RBIs, while Tyler Garbooshian contributed two RBIs of his own. Brody Moore pitched 5 1/3 innings for Brick Memorial, allowing four earned runs on five hits with four strikeouts. On the opposing side, Max Dantoni put up a strong performance with two hits and two RBIs for Red Bank Catholic, supported by Dylan Passo and Drew Cannon with two hits each. Overall, it was a thrilling game that kept fans on the edge of their seats until the final out.
Not really sure why this matters, but the resilience shown by Brick Memorial in the face of adversity was truly impressive. Despite the momentum swinging back and forth throughout the game, they never lost their composure and managed to come out on top. Maybe it’s just me, but it feels like games like these are what make high school sports so special—the passion, the drama, and the unexpected twists that keep everyone guessing until the very end.
