“If you don’t want a nap, come to laSexta.” This is how Boris Izaguirre and Adela González sell the new entertainment program that they will present on Saturday afternoons starting this weekend. The couple will face four hours of live action every week, supported by a large number of collaborators who will bring to the table topics as varied as cooking, meteorology, culture or sport, although current events will always take priority.

«We are going to tell the stories that happen, because on Saturdays a lot of things happen. The essence of laSexta is going to be there,” says González. She adds to the formula an adjective, “thug”, which her partner is not convinced by: “To be a thug at four in the afternoon you should think that it is four in the morning.” Boris says that the duo they will form will be like Lady and the Tramp with him, of course, in the role of the lady.

During the presentation of the format this Thursday at the FesTVal in Vitoria, good chemistry was seen between them, despite the fact that they still know little about each other. They claim that they are in that first phase of falling in love where everything is magical and they get tangled up in constant dissertations. Adela González has called “chochoneo” that relaxed conversation in which they jump from one topic to another until someone over the earpiece asks them to focus. A conversation in which they hope to involve the audience.

Boris Izaguirre assures that, although he has many hours of live music behind him after his time in Crónicas Marcianas, he feels a certain respect for this new adventure. That is far away: “In recent years I have become a very good friend of autocue,” he says. Adela González, for her part, finds in this format the perfect balance point between her latest facets: a more serious one in Más Vale Tarde and a more casual one in her most recent passage through Sálvame.

Controversy is the spice of our days and you have to know how to use it to your advantage.

“In the last year and a half I have discovered a face that I didn’t know I had,” he admits about his time in the Mediaset afternoons, “when I arrived at Sálvame it was like boom, like a beast. I came from more serious, more informative programs, and then I began to relax. It was a school of entertainment, which is very difficult to do. It has given me the baggage to face Más Vale Sábado in a different way. Nine years ago it would have been totally different, it was another Adela. It seems that the projects you have to work on always try to pigeonhole you, and when you can get out of there and they give you the opportunity to change and mix it with your essence, the result is Better Saturday.

Collaborators such as Inés Hernand, Eduardo Aldán, Andrea Levy, Pablo Simón and the Instagrammer Carmen Tía Alia will pass through its set. Toñi Moreno will be his first guest, replacing Miguel Bosé, initially planned. «Controversy is the spice of our days and you have to know how to use it to your advantage», Boris Izaguirre advances about the tone of the program, «it is not a good idea to wake up thinking about what controversy you are going to star in today, but you have to know that it is a element with which to cohabit. Without provoking her, that is.
