Longtime Hoboken resident and civic advocate Liz Urtecho is throwing her hat into the ring for City Council, teaming up with mayoral candidate Tiffanie Fisher in the upcoming November election. Urtecho, known for her commitment to transparency and community engagement, is vying for one of the three at-large council seats.

“I’m in the race because Hoboken needs leaders who prioritize residents and hold City Hall accountable,” stated Urtecho. “I believe in Tiffanie’s vision of a transparent and accountable City Hall that delivers tangible results for our community. That’s why I’m running for Council.”

Urtecho’s decision to run builds on her previous bid for 5th Ward Council in 2023, where she advocated for families, neighbors, and key issues like development and financial responsibility. Since then, she has continued to be actively involved in local government, pushing for a more responsive and inclusive leadership approach.

Joining forces with Fisher signifies a shared commitment to change. “Tiffanie is the right leader for Hoboken right now,” said Urtecho. “She’s unafraid to ask the tough questions and stand up for what’s right. With her experience, financial acumen, and willingness to challenge the status quo, I believe she will be a mayor who focuses on delivering outcomes, not making excuses.”

Fisher also praised Urtecho’s addition to the team, highlighting her principles, preparedness, and problem-solving focus. Together, they aim to restore trust in government, improve pedestrian safety, invest in resident-centric infrastructure, and prioritize fiscal responsibility in decision-making. Their partnership offers a clear departure from the current state of affairs, presenting a service-oriented path forward.
