The government on Tuesday launched a Call for expressions of interest (rfei) for companies of the automotive sector, who wish to obtain State support for their project of modernization, in the framework of the plan of eight billion euros to support the sector. “The ministry of Economy and Finance launched a Call for expressions of Interest (AMI) to support investment in modernization of enterprises,” says Bercy in a statement.

This call, operated by Bpifrance, is part of the support plan are presented at the end of may by Emmanuel Macron to rescue the auto industry, put in great difficulty by the health crisis. Among the measures of this plan : 200 million euros of subsidies to help oems and subcontractors in their modernisation and increase in range.

To benefit from this fund to support the modernization, the actors of the sector are thus invited to present their projects. “This FRIEND is for companies of the sector who want to invest in their production tools to make it more competitive and orient themselves to the business models of the future”, explains the ministry. “These projects will relate in particular to the realization of investment in order to increase the reuse of materials and promote recycling”, lists Bercy, or “relate to the development and diversification into parts for hybrid or electric driven vehicles”.
In addition to these 200 million worth of grants dedicated to the modernization, the plan includes 600 million euros to intervene in own funds over the whole of the sector’s companies as well as 150 million euros to develop the innovation and research. In total, this is a fund for the investment of nearly one billion euros that the State will put in place to directly support companies in the sector.
