Pedro Acosta will not be able to compete in the upcoming Australian Grand Prix due to a shoulder injury he sustained during the MotoGP sprint race. The Tech3 KTM rookie dislocated his shoulder in a crash at Phillip Island, leading to his withdrawal from the race. While there are no broken bones, the 20-year-old was deemed unfit to race after further medical evaluation on Sunday morning.
Despite showing promising speed and securing pole position in Japan, Acosta faced challenges in qualifying in Australia, starting in 15th place, his worst position this season. During the race, he could only progress to 11th place before the crash that caused his shoulder to dislocate. Although his shoulder was put back in place, the pain was too severe for him to participate in the warm-up session before the main race.
This will be the first race that Acosta misses in the top category, but it is hopeful that he will recover in time for the next races in Thailand and Malaysia. The focus now is on providing him with conservative treatment to allow his shoulder to heal properly before returning to the track next week.
Acosta, who has experienced multiple crashes throughout the season, expressed his frustration at this particular incident, where the bike unexpectedly threw him off during a corner entry. Despite leading in crashes compared to seasoned riders like Marc Marquez, Acosta remains determined to bounce back stronger from this setback.
In the previous race in Japan, Acosta faced similar challenges, crashing out of both the sprint and the main race. His crash in Australia adds to his recent string of misfortunes on the track, but the young rider remains optimistic about his recovery and return to competitive racing.
As MotoGP fans eagerly await Acosta’s comeback, the focus is on his rehabilitation and preparation for the upcoming races. The determination and resilience he has shown throughout the season indicate that he will come back stronger and more determined to succeed in the races ahead.
