Skoda has taken its largest SUV, the Kodiaq, and given it a high-performance RS treatment. This means that the Kodiaq RS now comes with either five or seven seats, all-wheel drive, and a seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic transmission. What sets this SUV apart is its powerful 261 horsepower engine, making it the most powerful gas SUV Skoda has ever produced.

In the past, performance SUVs were only available from luxury brands, but now mainstream automakers like Skoda are entering the market. The Kodiaq RS was originally launched with a bi-turbodiesel engine, but it has now been upgraded to a gasoline engine for the 2021 facelift. The latest second-generation model features the Volkswagen Group’s 2.0 TSI engine, offering 261 horsepower, which is 20 horsepower more than its predecessor. Additionally, the maximum torque has been increased to 295 lb-ft, providing the Kodiaq RS with the power it needs to perform.

The Kodiaq RS comes equipped with a seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic transmission that delivers power to both axles. It can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 6.3 seconds, with the seven-seat version taking slightly longer. The top speed for both models is 144 mph, showcasing the SUV’s performance capabilities.

In terms of features, the Kodiaq RS is packed with technology that demonstrates Skoda’s progress under the VW Group. From matrix LED headlights to adjustable dampers, this SUV offers a luxurious driving experience without the luxury price tag. It also includes dedicated driving modes for Sport, Snow, and Off-Road, along with ventilated front seats and a premium sound system. The cabin is designed for comfort, with laminated glass windows to reduce outside noise.

The exterior of the Kodiaq RS features split headlights, large 20-inch wheels, and a 13-inch infotainment tablet. It is one of the few Skoda models to have a visible dual exhaust setup, adding to its sporty appeal. Along with the Octavia RS, the Kodiaq RS is a standout in Skoda’s lineup, offering both performance and practicality.

The Kodiaq RS joins Skoda’s performance SUV lineup, which includes the fully electric Enyaq RS and Enyaq Coupe RS. These electric vehicles offer even more power, with 335 horsepower and instant torque, showcasing Skoda’s commitment to performance across its range of vehicles. With the Kodiaq RS, Skoda has proven that practicality and performance can go hand in hand in a mainstream SUV.
