Augusto Fernández, a talented rider, is bidding farewell to MotoGP after two seasons. His journey in the paddock began in 2017 when he joined Moto2 from the Italian GP onwards. Although he struggled initially and only scored points in the last two rounds of the year with SpeedUp, his determination and hard work paid off in the following seasons.

In 2018, Fernández achieved his first wins and finished fifth in the championship. His move to Elf Marc VDS in 2020 showcased his potential, but it was not until his transfer to Red Bull KTM Ajo in 2022 that he clinched the much-coveted title. This success propelled him into MotoGP, where he joined Red Bull GasGas Tech3 in 2023.

Despite high expectations, Fernández struggled to make a significant impact in MotoGP. His best finish was a fourth place at the French GP, and he earned six top-ten finishes in his 39 main races. Unfortunately, his results and performances were not up to par, leading to his departure from the series.

KTM decided to bring in a new pair of strong riders for Tech3 in 2025, opting for Enea Bastianini and Maverick Viñales. This decision, along with Fernández’s inability to deliver stronger results despite his experience, led to the end of his MotoGP journey.

In a bittersweet moment, Fernández will bid farewell to the grid at the Barcelona GP, the same track where he made his mark in the paddock in 2018. While this may be the end of his MotoGP career, there are rumors that he will transition into a test rider role for Yamaha. This new role could also see him making wildcard appearances, keeping his connection to the sport alive.

As Fernández closes this chapter in his racing career, fans and fellow riders will remember his passion, determination, and contributions to the sport. While his time in MotoGP may have come to an end, his journey in motorcycle racing is far from over.
