Kylian Mbappé, a scorer, would have dreamed of a better outing for his last at the Parc des Princes: Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) was defeated by Toulouse (1-3), Sunday May 12, during the 33rd and penultimate day of Ligue 1. At the same time, Monaco secured its second place, by easily winning in Montpellier (0-2), while Clermont beaten at home by Lyon (0-1), was relegated to Ligue 2.

What you must remember

PSG – Toulouse (1-3): disappointing. Kylian Mbappé scored (8th) for his last outing at the Park, but the celebration was marred by the defeat of Luis Enrique’s men against Toulouse in great form (goals from Dallinga 13th, Gboho 68th, Magri 90th, 4).

Marseille – Lorient (3-1): mathematics. A few days after the end of their European epic, the Marseillais were keen to finish on a good note at the Vélodrome. Despite a complicated season, they only lost one home match. For the Merlus, on the other hand, it is time for apothecary accounts. Having come close to relegation, the Bretons remain mathematically on borrowed time – three points behind Metz.

Strasbourg – Metz (2-1): stunning. The Messins went from euphoria to disillusionment in the space of… three minutes. After having held the match in hand, the Garnets broke down at the very end of the match. Worse, the goals from Emegha (89th) and Santos (90th 1) swept away their hopes of direct maintenance. They will have to defend their place as barrage.

Nantes – Lille (1-2): hooked. After largely dominating in the first period, Lille had to face the rebellion of the Canaries (1-2), 14th in the championship with 33 points. Now 3rd in Ligue 1, three points behind Brest, Paulo Fonseca’s men can still aspire to qualify for the Champions League.

Rennes – Lens (1-1): and Europe? With this draw (1-1), Rennes, 8th with 45 points, says goodbye to the continental cups. Lens, 6th with 49 points, can still believe it. But the Sang et Or saw their lead melt away like snow in the sun after the victories of Olympique Lyonnais and Marseille. As a reminder: the 5th in Ligue 1 qualifies for the Europa League, the 6th for the play-offs of the Europa Conference League…

Montpellier – Monaco (0-2): towards the Champions League. This is a well-conducted affair by the Rocher players, who validated with their evening victory (goals from Ouattara 52nd and Fofana 65th), their place as runner-up to PSG. The Monegasques will therefore compete in the Champions League next season. As for Montpellier, 12th, the club is already maintained in Ligue 1.

Clermont – Lyon (0-1): decisive. Defeated at home, the Auvergnats are officially relegated to Ligue 2.
