The Controller -El Controller- is Brian Cox’s new project. The Scottish actor, winner of an Emmy and a Golden Globe, has been chosen by Amazon Prime Video to give life to this enigmatic character who will control the fate of the contestants in the next reality show on the platform, 007’s Road to a Million, which It will soon be available in more than 240 countries.
“I’ve been able to see how common people manage to be in a James Bond adventure,” says Cox about this project, the first he will do once Succession is over.
“As they travel the world to some of the most iconic Bond locations, it gets more intense and exciting. I enjoyed playing both the villain and the tormentor, licensed to tear down hopeful participants,” he says.
The Controller is “a cult villain,” says Prime Video, who enjoys the increasing difficulty of the journeys and questions that contestants must overcome. He has millions of pounds to give away, up to £1 million per couple, but he’s not going to make it easy. “While he lurks in the shadows, he watches and controls everything that’s going on,” he explains.
In 007’s Road to a Million, it follows several contestants who compete in a grand adventure with the goal of winning the ultimate prize of £1 million. Shot in several of the most emblematic places of the Bond saga, from the Scottish Highlands to Venice or Jamaica, this cinematographic format will be a true test of intelligence, resistance and heroism.
In addition to overcoming obstacles, the contestants, in groups of two, must correctly answer hidden questions in different parts of the world before they can advance to the next challenge.
This project comes to the platform after last year Amazon bought MGM Studios, the production company that distributes the James Bond movies, for 8.45 billion dollars.
