The Government assures in writing that in the attempt to place the husband of the first vice president, Nadia Calviño, in National Heritage, he acted in accordance with “the principles of equality, merit and capacity.”
The Executive dispatches the case with a single response of just three paragraphs to the ten questions presented by the PP senator, Carlos Floriano, according to the text to which EL MUNDO has had access.
The answer to Floriano’s questions from December is dated last 13th. It limits itself to assuring that Ignacio Manrique de Lara was chosen “following the recommendation of the Advisory Commission that assessed the merits.” The final decision was made by the president of National Heritage, Ana de la Cueva, who, according to her version, could not deviate from that of this commission chaired by one of her lieutenants in the public entity. De la Cueva was previously Secretary of State for the Economy under Calviño.
The government’s written response to Floriano insists on what National Heritage said last December about Manrique de Lara’s success in presenting his candidacy. “In this process, the candidate unanimously received the highest score in the criteria evaluated by the Commission.”
Those criteria of the call were very consistent with the official curriculum of Manrique de Lara and were for a senior management position in the newly created public entity to be “Coordinator of commercial strategy and marketing of National Heritage.”
Manrique de Lara, despite not having worked before in the public group, managed to more than meet the requirements and deliver within ten business days and with the best score “a report on the commercial and marketing plan of National Heritage in which initiatives are proposed to increase income and activities with a classification of priorities.
In its written response, the Government emphasizes, however, that the vice president’s husband resigned on December 23, that he had decided to “opt for other professional opportunities”, which two months after the candidate has not yet revealed.
Floriano had asked on the 15th, the reasons for the newly created management position not contemplated in the National Heritage regulations and “the reason why the board of directors, which is the body that performs the head of personnel, has not been previously convened both official and contracted” before choosing Manrique de Lara. He also asked “the selection criteria and the scale of each criterion.”
